Tendon Kohaku - The First Tendon Specialty Restaurant Is Now In Malaysia.

Last Friday, we went to Lot 10 to try out this rather special Japanese outlet called Tendon Kohaku. Located at J's Gate Dining, Level 4 Lot 10, it was a nice stop for us after a shop of shopping there.

Getting to Lot 10 and its surrounding area is pretty easy as there are plenty of public transportation option. For us, we took the LRT from Abdullah Hukum Station to KL Sentral then the monorail direct to Lot 10. No need to drive there lah!

At the moment, Tendon Kohaku is a pork-free and lard-free restaurant and they do intend to apply for halal status in the future.
The outlet at J's Gate Dining is their first outlet in KL and they do plan to open their second outlet at Tropicana Mall in March 2020.
Friendly staff at Tendon Kohaku.
The tendons available.

Very helpful for those not familiar with tendon or tempura dishes. You can ask the staff for recommendation too!

We decided to order the Kohaku Tendon (because it comes with prawns, chicken breast, squid, crab stick, Shiitake mushroom, french beans, baby corn and pumpkin), Chicken Tendon and Prawn Tendon.

We opted for original sauce for two of our order and the spicy one for another. Can't remember which is which.

The spicy sauce has a slight heat to it, but nothing to spicy and it didn't linger on our tongue.  Try it yourself!
Complimentary green tea for Tendon Kohaku customers. I like...
Our prawn tendon. It comes with pickle (my favourite one!) and miso soup.
Chicken Tendon (with onsen egg).
Kohaku Tendon. I love eating the crunchy french beans.

There are other options to try such as the Kakiage Tendon (mix vege and shrimp) and mini tendons for those small eaters.

The tempura were light and crispy and didn't taste oily. I asked how to make it not oily and was informed that the oil temperature is the most important factor when cooking.

Let's enjoy a video we made while enjoying our dinner there.

  1. Heard of this outlet from another blogger. Must be so good. Now another new player in the market to serve Malaysians.

  2. The tempura is so beautifully placed in the bowl. For some strange reason unknown, I don't like tempura. So weird, right? LOL!

    1. The way it is presented is nice, right?

I'm OK with tempura but I don't like eating a lot of it. Jelak. :P

  3. I would go for the prawns bowl. You mean to say you ask how to make it not oily?
