Hazy Sky

The API (Air pollutant index) on June 20th, 2013.

Yes, it's the time of the year again for us to welcome the unwelcome haze. Ugh.

Schools in Johor are close as the level air quality reaching hazardous level there.

The blame game has begun. Again and again each year.
The McDonald Olympic Day Fun Run scheduled this Sunday is now postponed till after Raya. No news about other races this weekend or the one next weekend which is the Standard Chartered KL Marathon.

O.O

  7. I find the Indon folks damn stubborn lah!!! Every year is same story and they could still burn the harvested fields. I went to Bali many years ago during their haze season. I saw the burning with my own eyes but the wind blew them across to Java. Funny lah! So Bali was still okay lah.
The tour guide told me that the burning in Bali was just a small thing compared to the main peninsula. Adoi...

    2. then blame Malaysian & Singaporean investor in Indonesia.

Indonesian government has no power to monitor these companies that create such environmental issues ke?

Or the kickbacks are very good in terms of $$$

  11. Oh dear, dislike this time of the month... It's like a Haze season every year since the last 10years... Coz it's hot, dry, no raining at all, that's why they were doing open burning over there... Sigh!

Hopefully SCKLM will be haze free, just like last year... They should hire a Rain Shaman to summon the rain in KL asap... Mihmihmih...

  12. Many stories about the haze in Singapore in Japan's media today, but I haven't noticed anything about Malaysia. Possibly Singapore is highlighted because so many Japanese expats live there.

I look at photos of your haze problem and tell myself I should never, ever again complain about pollen-induced hay fever in Tokyo.

Meantime, we had a typhoon downpour in Tokyo today. No wind, just VERY heavy rain. I was on my way back after visiting the Sumidagawa Jinja (oh, yes, there is a special shrine to appease the water gods), and I was DRENCHED despite my umbrella. I was walking ankle-deep in little mini-Sumidas in every single shitamachi alley.

I thought it was all rather appropriate ...

Take care with the smoggy stuff, ne!

    1. This is the time that we here would be glad for lots and lots of rain, Ru!

Can you visit the shrine and ask the water gods to be kind to us here? Gods have special international connection right? ^^

  15. I saw a former model's instagram today...waaah teruk betul haze kat Singapore. Dah la dia ni green & environmentalist punya orang. She is really upset. We over here are upset too. Dalam rumah pun ada hint of bau asap & hidung pedih2.
I hope all goes well for your Alpha Run tomorrow! Marilah join kami di Perodua run Ahad ini :D

  18. Hating the haze!! For so long already, Malaysia and Singapore suffer needlessly for this inconsiderate act from Indonesia. No one is seriously doing anything to stop it. And Indonesia has the nerve to call Singapore childish for complaining and for calling the haze an act of nature!

  20. Too bad for you that the marathons will all be postponed. Are you disappointed?

    1. Panda,
SO far I don't know of any marathon in Malaysia that's been canceled as only SCKLM is held this month.

The McD Fun Run has to be postponed as there are a lot of school children running in it. Other runs this Sunday will still go on as usual.

Let's hope the weather be better next Sunday so that the biggest marathon in Malaysia won't be postponed!
