Lawak Kampus 10th Anniversary Exhibition
Raimie wanted to go to Balai Seni Visual Negara. He wanted to meet his favourite cartoonist, Keith who is the one behind Lawak Kampus/Kuso (which is lawak in Japanese incidentally) High School fame.
The mini exhibition was held from May 18th - June 2nd, 2013. On June 1st, there's a special event. A Lawak Kampus comic workshop and Raimie really wanted to attend it. He didn't explicitly said so, but we are his parents and we know him. ^^
So, after collecting Mommy's bib no at UKM for her run on Sunday, we went to Balai Seni Visual in Titiwangsa.
The workshop was from 2.00pm - 2.30pm. Just 30minutes. But we were there until 4.00pm because of course son wanted to get Keith's autographed.
Everyone waited patiently although the line was slow moving but who would complain as Keith painstakingly draw a character for each of his fan.
So much respect to him.
The session was supposed to finish at 3.45pm but judging by the line behind Raimie, he probably was there till 6.00pm!
A few parents just can't wait and pushily made their kids cut in front. Some even had the gall of "discussing" with the crew. One parent was annoyed that her son refused to cut line and keep on pointing at her watch. Then, she kept on bugging the crew to let her son go ahead. The boy then just ignored his mom and refused to look at her and continued to wait patiently. The mother saw it fit to stand right in front of everbody with hands on hip, showing her annoyed face. Wow
One uncle even asked the crew "Got to queue one ah?" Wow. You know, kids do learn good things at school. Sometimes it's their parents who made whatever good they learn there become undone.
Two hours of waiting and son finally managed to get in front and get his autograph. Daddy also seemed stoked being able to get up close to Keith. Heeee
The long wait was made bearable as the crew held quizzes with some coupons as the prizes. Raimie didn't win any but that's because he only raised his hands a few times but he sure looked pretty entertained with the quiz. ^^
He is super charged-up now and had spent the days drawing cartoons with the techniques he saw on Saturday. :-)
wow, your boy got to meet his idol! Worth waiting!
ReplyDeleteso true lah, he came from inside your stomach and sure you will know him the best, like he also understands you well.. this is mutual between parents and kids lah.. :)
ReplyDeletecannot say also. Some parents might know that much. I might know much more than I thought I did. ;-)
DeleteUncle SK tarak tahu this Lawak Kampus but then i am impressed by the patience and kind heart of the author Keith.. instead of just scribble his autograph and leave the event in an hour, he took effort to draw something for every kid.. LIKE!!!
ReplyDeletehis first lawak kampus comic was published in 2003. Uncle SK stopped reading comics by that tome, right? :-D
DeleteYeah, Keith is really good with his fans. Super appreciate that. His hand must be having cramps after the session! :-)
I have stopped reading comics like 20 years ago!!! SP supplies porno to anyone.
DeleteSP supplies porno of him as the star ah? Wakaka
DeleteUncle SK not fans of comics, unless those short comic strips like "Old Master Q" or the most "Shin Chan", never been patient to hold on to the comic book and read from pages to pages lah..
DeleteNo read Doraenon comics ah, Uncle?
DeleteOr those kung-fu comics? :-D
the kids behaved well too, waited patiently for their turn to get the autograph.. i bet Keith must have taught the kids about manners especially queuing up in his comics.. that unreasonable auntie who kept pestering his boy to cut queue must read the comics and be ashamed of herself!!!
ReplyDeleteMost of the kids were really well behaved. Interestingly the ones that pushed and cut queues were the ones with adults (parents/uncles/aunties) with them. :-S
DeleteIn Singapore there used to be stampede and brawls when the parents were queuing up at McDonalds to buy Hello Kitty.
DeleteMust win at all odds culture :(
Deletenice shot of the boys!! like that, see how contented Raimie was with Keith's autograph on his book, and your Zaini was showing his true colors of an avid comics fans.. Keith, errr, staring at that stunning lady who was taking photo of the boys?? :p
ReplyDeleteRaimie has one more taken with Keith before the signing session started. :-)
DeleteOf course need to look at me lah, I was the one holding the camera! LOL
How come you didn't take one of yourself with Keith??
DeleteBecause I sombong! LOL
DeleteI know how it feels like. Yeah same as me meeting author. Some times tongue tied.
ReplyDeleteNice la author take time to greet each and rvery of his fans like yhat. Got chat a bit and snap photo
DeleteIts nice of Keith to give special attention n took time out to draw n snap photos with fans. Going to develop the photo or not.
DeleteYea sometimes it's the parents that give ajaran sesat
DeleteHahaha, Meow doesn't care about Artists but she adores authors. :-)
DeleteYour son is getting more and more handsome by the day...
ReplyDeleteWhen the son reaches adulthood I am sure Lina will be busy screening all his admirers!!
DeleteNow also got peminat dy. I'll definitely have a headache once he's in his teens. :-D
DeleteYou son and other sons were so well behaved! I am sure you were proud and pleased like a lark.
ReplyDeleteI sure am. But unfortunately in our country, being patient sometimes is like being a pushover. Aggressive people pijak. :(
DeleteEven though waited for two hours, worth it!!! =]
ReplyDeleteDefinitely :-)
DeleteWorth it la..2hours not very long.
ReplyDeleteYup. Didn't say it wasn't ;-)
DeleteSo everyone looking at that frust mummy lor... Err, for me just let the boy line up and let him done all by himself. For what she keep forcing his kids to go in front....sigh
ReplyDeleteWell, not all adults are patient as their kids that day.
DeleteI bet Raimie have a very good time. So what did he drew then?
ReplyDeleteHe did. :-)
Deletehe drew the comics characters of course. :-)
Good for you for waiting so patiently, Raimie! Your auntie in Tokyo is happy because she got some very nice photographs. ^^
ReplyDeleteRaimie's Mommy hope that Auntie Rurousha noticed there's an album for the event at FB. :)
DeleteSoon Raimie will become a cartoonist too or an artist, with his artsy crafty hands... For sure young ladies will gladly line up to get his autograph n drooled over him...
ReplyDeleteSo many muse... Mummy should be proud of Raimie... ;)
I would say he is more an idol rather than a muse. ;-)
