Makan-Makan & Run In Taiping
We visited Taiping for a 2D 1N trip last week, to run in the "King Of Bukit Larut" event; a 21K uphill/downhill run there.
Had wanted to go out and try out the marvelous food there but as we were pressed for time, just managed a couple of makan outing and after the race, cendol plus nasi lemak provided by the event organiser.
Next year, we'll do at least a 3D2N trip there and enjoy more food!
I was eyeing this hand-drawn menu...
tempted to order but in the end didn't, but this fella did! *envy*
This was an early evening dinner.
Second round was later; at the same place - the Belakang Bomba food court, with fellow GC runners who went for the event too (my fellow King and Queens, I might add) ^^
The "Royals" gone incognito. Hahaha
And then, feasting on cendol and nasi lemak after a 10.5K run uphill and another 10.5K downhill the next day.
and this time, the Royals went all out! LOL

10.5km up and 10.5km down, huh! Hebat la, lina.
ReplyDeleteSalute you and all other runners for the spirit in hiking up Bukit Larut.
I only dare to run 8.5 km on my treadmill, i believe is my most intensive record for another 3 more months.
Glad to know you enjoy Taiping hawker food as much as I do.
DeleteYou run fast mah.
DeleteI've done 50K but I did it reallllly slow ;)
I also need to improve on my speed. So far my 8K run average time is 56min :(
DeleteWhy the Taiping Ladies didn't come to cheer & support you?? Tsk! Tsk!
DeleteNo need la. Plenty of cheering already there. Lol
Deletethat's great..you get to run and enjoy Taiping food too.
ReplyDeleteEnjoying local food is a must when we travel, right? ;)
Delete21K uphill/downhill? You super expert la, for me on the road running is pretty hard already don't even talk about uphill and downhill, hehe!!!
ReplyDeleteIt's a challenge. :)
DeleteGlad to know you enjoyed your stay and the food here! Yea, stay a bit longer next time!
ReplyDeleteNext year, maybe? ;)
DeleteNext round can look for Hayley and Angeline, hehe...
ReplyDeleteProvided we're all free that day. ;-)
DeleteIs Taiping in Ipoh? That's lots of makan makan. I'm sure I will like that place. haha....
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit further than Ipoh from KL :)
DeleteReally need to eat more for energy up the hill and replenish back lost energy after that. Sounds tough !!
ReplyDeleteTough but FUN!
DeleteI spot otak otak and rojak too... *miss those food*
ReplyDeleteGotta find a Malaysian festival or restaurant there that serve them then ;)
Deleteall the Kings and Queens SANTAP at Taiping!! what a magnificent scene that was!! i guess 2D1N is a little rush since you also had other activities to do, and yeah, make it a 3D2N next time for a trip more time and less packed.. hahaha, i have not been to Taiping before, but talked like i am a local Taiping people~~ :D
ReplyDeleteCannot do a 3D2N trip unless it's during a school holiday la. ;-)
Deleteoh, that hand drawn menu is kind of special huh?? won't notice that if Mak Glam didn't mention about it (the picture also too small to notice lah).. happy happy lah, i can see so many food on the table!! what a feast!! SEDAP!!
ReplyDeleteSpecial la see a hand drawn colourful ice cream menu. I took the photo w my phone n didn't zoom.
DeleteYeah...a feast, shared with friends :-)
Oh wow! I would love to feast on nasi lemak & chendol too! That's a great combination!
ReplyDeleteWould be awesome if there's rojak too! Lol
DeleteThat's really a tough run only for the Kings & Queens! I regret that my legs are not in perfect condition for such events otherwise I would take up the challenge. Even when I climbed up the China's mountains, I had to limb and pause so many times far behind wifey. At least I tried.
ReplyDeleteYes, main thing is we tried ;-)
DeleteI love looking at the happy and smiling faces of everyone. You guys know how to enjoy as happiness is all around us! The running events are so healthy and often brought friends together like families! We are proud to be your friends!! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThank you Anay ^^
DeleteRUN LINA RUN!
