Necessary Evil
I have a spinning bike at home. Used to have a treadmill too but the motor broke down and it cost RM900 to replace just the damn motor. To buy a new one would cost a few thousand. Evil, these machines! Hahaha
Anyway, got this bike about a year and half ago, for the purpose of cross-training and another option if I can't run outside. I don't really like to cycle and sitting on one for a "mere" 40min is actually murder on the bum for me. Then try simulating a hill climb on that dratted spinning bike and ugh...
LOL As I said, it's my necessary evil. ;-)

I haven't been to a gym in ages now. I have my "evil" bike and an equally "evil" apartment's stairs to complement my running. Once in a blue moon, I'd spent time in the apartment's pool. No, am not exactly jumping in joy when I need to do them but I do anyway. (Just like when I did the 5 sets of 15 floor stairs the other day)
Used to be a gym rat, me; yonks ago. But at that time, I was more focused in getting a strong upper body and I did a lot of strength training (read : weights) and cardio was just a mean of warming up and burning calories.
Why the need for strength?
To bee able to do this with ease. Son didn't like to sit in stroller when he was a baby and toddler so either one of us would carry him around when he's tired. Try walking from 8am to 5pm and you can't blame a 9 year old for wanting a piggy-back ride. (Can't do this anymore now. He's too big for it!)
I used to wake up really early and go to the gym 5 times a week at 6.30am. No time? Well, I guess I was really lucky I could allocate 6.30am-8.00am for gym before heading to work. I know many don't even have that luxury. Having way too much free time always have its perks. ^^
Now, I'm still pretty lucky I guess cos there are still time for me to run albeit not as long as I'd love to. Ah well... 30min a day is still good. I probably could do more but then I'd be losing sleep pulak. Better than nothing. Better than just giving excuses.

Enjoy your long weekend ya...
ReplyDeleteThank you. You too
Deletewe don't have long weekend unlike Singapore, no holidays for us on Good Friday and Easter Day..
DeleteGot.... Sabah & Sarawak got Ah Boy... hihihi
DeleteAwwww~!!! So sweet to see Mama carry anak! My heart melted like ice cream dei.
ReplyDeleteAiskrim lemak manis? Hahaha
Deletemulut makin manis ni Anay~~
DeleteMust have learnt it from a semut kacak lol
Deletewe learn from each other lah..
Deletemuhahaha......lebih manis dari manisan
DeleteMust learn from Ah Boy how to be mulut manis but not kiss-ass punya ;-)
DeleteI am a cycling freak in the gym. I can sit and rot on the bike for 1-2 hours! Just program 500 calories and then play games on the attached tablets on the bike. The treadmills are tougher to run 1-2 hours, as I might faint pula.....hihihihi
ReplyDeleteSalute Anay.
DeleteI always need to focus to be able to stay in the desired intensity when I'm on tge bike and so far I never do it more than an hour!
I remember I used to have a treadmill in my condo and the unit below could hear the floor vibrating at night. Our contractors built cheap & thin concrete floors! Bluek!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't worried if I'm disturbing my neighbours bcos I'm on the lowest floor hihi
Deletespin bike and treadmill, awww, my best friends in the gym, haha!! but i've never been with these machines for more than 30 minutes lah, it's so tiring!! i'll just get myself warmed up, sweat a little and then head on the other section..
ReplyDeleteYou're doing circuit training tu. Very effective and efficient form of exercising ;-)
Deletefuyoh!! Mak Glam hebat, you do weights to train your upper body!! that sounds a little masculine, haha.. usually i see most ladies just sticking to the cardio machines, and very seldom one who would be doing weights.. Mak Glam is always someone so different huh?? so got muscles on your biceps as huge as your calves?? haha~~
ReplyDeleteDoing weights doesn't mean you're going to bulk up mah...
DeleteTo be lean n strong, strength training mesti mau.
I thot my calves look nice one? Lol
Deleteeih, i used to hit the gym in the morning before work too!! from 7am-8:30am and then rush to work at 9am.. i think it's great to workout in the morning, i actually feel fresh for the whole day, and the best part is that, the gym is empty with just few regular members, so you don't have to queue for machines and see people sashaying seeking for attention!! but it does require a lot of determination to get up so early everyday lah.. that's why i used to do that, but sadly not now :p
ReplyDeleteYa ya ya...
DeleteThe morning regulars also no need to fight on machibes. We all seem to know who will use what.
Miss it, kinda. But lazy bum to hit the gym la now. Huhuhu
Yep, those machines are indeed not cheap! But nowadays most also got installment already, hehe!
ReplyDeleteBut it all depends on our need.
DeleteOtherwise, the machines just collect dusts :)
Haha...my kids also love that piggi-back ride. But I can't do that anymore coz they are growing up.
ReplyDeleteSame here.
DeleteI love giving piggy back rides but of do now, alamak! Back break lah! Lol
I like to cycle when I went to the gym last time. But it's just for a short while. Then I would be working on the other equipments. I love dumbbells. But not anymore. I missed the gym.
ReplyDeleteGreat!
DeleteMaybe you could go once you aren't too busy? ^^
I myself prefer the machines than free weights like dumbbells. I guess I am always not confident enough to know the correct form to do free weights without a trainer supervising.
Never pay for gym, but with the travelling I need to do now I need to learn how to run on treadmill.
ReplyDeleteLearn something new! Hehehe
DeleteHad an exercise bike at home, but the magnetic clamp broken hence only single speed. But I am not going to use it as long as I can run outside.
ReplyDeleteYou've been using it too much? Hihi
DeleteYeah... I'm not gonna use mine for as many long as I do an LSD. :-D
I still prefer to go to the gym as there are more equipments there. I go 3 times a week and played badminton for another night. So, 4 times a week la... I do both weights and cardiovascular exercise. My focus now is to trim down my tummy. .. :(
ReplyDeleteGo Chris Go! Flat tummy coming soon! :)
DeleteLOL...Raimie growing up fast lah...soon her will be the one who can carry you
ReplyDeleteThat will be sweet but I hope not because that will mean I'll be an infirm! o.O
Deletesome prefer gym but some work out better outdoors or at home leh
ReplyDeleteBetul betul betul
Deletemak oi...so expensive leh rm900. ahem ahem...what brand ah.....maybe got sponsor wanna help repair leh. kih kih kih
ReplyDeleteHahaha Yeah yeah... mana treadmill company mau sponsor, come come LOL
DeleteReally admire your stamina, Lina! At that kind of hours, I'm still in bed lah!
ReplyDeleteI wish I am too most times! LOL
Deleteno wonder you looks slim and very fit...heee.
ReplyDeletecongratulation sis.
Hehehe
DeleteThanks ;)
