The Kuala Kangsar Train Trip
So we went to Kuala Kangsar last Sunday just because I had a run in the royal town, in Larian Keputeraan Sultan Nazrin Shah on Nov 29, 2015.
Instead of spending a night in Kuala Kangsar, we chose to board the sleeper train, Express Peninsular from KL Sentral which was supposed to depart at midnight and arrived in Kuala Kangsar at 5.30am.
I wrote "supposed" because the train departure was delayed for about an hour, due to an addition of a carriage after all the train's passengers had boarded the train. Don't ask me why.
But even with that delay, we arrived at Kuala Kangsar station before 6.00am!
The Express Peninsula, the superior coach which we booked for RM32.00 for an upper berth and RM38.00 for the lower berth.
Passengers all settled in and ready to go visit the zzzzzzz land.
I even brought rations with me, bought from McD! But the train do have a cafe coach, don't worry.
Rather comfy sleeping berth. Comfy mattress and pillow. White sheets are not blemished and I didn't see any unwanted spots.
The conductor later came to our berth and reminded us that we were approaching the Kuala Kangsar station which was nice. He was making sure passengers didn't miss their stop.

Arrived at Kuala Kangsar station and we proceeded to use the station's clean toilet to freshen up and for me to change into my running clothes.
In front of the new and clean Kuala Kangsar train station.
Our Express Rakyat train that took us back to Kuala Lumpur. We opted the slower train and booked the superior seats at RM28.00 per person.
Very very comfy seats and our place of rest for the next 4 hours.
I did look quite tired here but with less than 4 hours sleep the night before, after spending half the day in Putrajaya and then ran around Kuala Kangsar, I do have an excuse for looking tired, right? Hihihi
Anyways, both train trip was nice. I wish I could ride longer in the sleeper train and enjoy longer sleeping time. Hahaha

maybe that one hour delay was better since you didn't have to spend more time waiting in Kuala Kangsar, but comfortably on your berth??
ReplyDeleteNo lah. Remember, I have a race to run.
DeleteLucky the starting line was near to the station otherwise it'd be a pain to rush to the starting line also.
so you went there right before the price increase in all rail transport!! what a great timing to save at least 50% on train fares..
ReplyDeletePhewww... ;)
DeleteSeems like not bad, I always want to try to have a train trip here, but there's always have something that pull it off, how about the toilet, is that clean?
ReplyDeleteReasonably clean. No issues with me.
DeleteHas been age since i took train ride...
ReplyDeleteWahhh when was the last trip?
DeleteOh, quite comfy like that. I have not been on a train for ages.
ReplyDeleteYup. Nice and comfy.
DeleteI've always prefer train trips than bus trips. :)
Never took train in Malaysia before, as the route and timing options are very limited. This make me thinking of the efficient trains system in Japan. Hope one day we can have the similar system here.
ReplyDeleteBut OK lah... still have to give a lot of time buffer and whatnot but I have no big complains. Plus when I bought the tix, it was still cheaper than after the fare increase. :)
DeleteI always loved to sit trains for long journeys! The longest ride was from Butterworth to Bangkok.
ReplyDeleteYour photos looked nice and I could see the angles taken were great!
One day I want to travel to Hatyai by train. :)
Deleteooh.. it looks comfy enough! It was such a long time since the time I took a train in Malaysia. The last was at least 9 years ago from Butterworth to Bangkok!
ReplyDeleteYou also travelled from Butterworth to Bangkok on train, just like TM!
DeleteIt's a long long time since I last took train in Malaysia. I remember I also book the sleeping deck but cannot sleep as the train is noisy as well as people walking around .. Haha
ReplyDeleteYa... that happened but after everyone settled down, it was nice and quiet dy :)
DeleteJust in time leh...now price incresed liao
ReplyDeleteGood to hear the bedsheet are clean and place comfortable
Our train is quite good. But punctuality is still an issue. ::P
