Taiping At A Glance
We arrived Taiping town on Saturday, Sep 15th 2012. Went to the MPT field first, the very bombastically named Esplanade or something to collect my race kit before checking-it at Legend Inn.
Then, we went walking around the town under the scorching heat, checking-out Taiping town, a small quaint town with lots of interestingly old buildings - pre-war, post war and modern buildings too. Me likey.
Taiping town at a glance
Taiping is a town with a laidback atmosphere. Nobody really seems to be in a hurry not even those driving. Me likey some more.
Taiping and Penang look so similar with old and new buildings. I like that white building you took, so majestic but no name kah?
ReplyDeleteThat's the Land Office, if I'm not mistake. ;)
DeleteRight Y&Y? ^^
Mana Land Office? Ooo~~ that white building?
DeleteI don't know what that building is for, oppsie! It looks haunted, wakakakak!
My colleague said the white building is not the Land Office but he doesn't know what it is for too! wakaka
Deleteaiyoh, teruk lah, how come nobody knows what this magnificent building is?? tsk tsk tsk..
Deleteyah le .. how come taiping kia. don't know what it is? tell me any building in Ipoh and I can tell you what it is..
DeleteDon't eksyen, SP. Later I give you pop quiz on Ipoh town, baru tau!
DeletePity I didn't snap photos of Ipoh when we stopped there. Otherwise can do pop quiz of Ipoh town also! xD
DeleteSP surprised that I knew almost every street near his family home in Ipoh. Don't play play with me!

DeleteNo stress, no hurry and I am sure the people there can live very long life. We have so many hospitals in Klang Valley means Banyak orang orang sakit la. LOL
ReplyDeleteThere also manyak hospital.... maybe because old folks ramai? ;p
DeleteBanyak hospitals? We got one general hospital, three pusat ibu dan kanak-kanak, many many small clinics. Normal wert.
DeleteOh ya, not forgetting several private hospitals, kekeke~
DeleteBanyak lah tu!
DeleteYou know, one of the prizes for winners during the race was check-up vouchers to Taiping Columbia Hospital. ;p
then banyak lah, so many medical center in the town!! hahaha.. maybe yvonne has already taken that for granted~~
Deletethat is why most of the orang pencen go to taiping to stay..
Deleteso when time come go to hospital le..
Choy!! Choy!! SP, your mouth is good for nothing, no wonder annay TM likes to curse you!
DeleteEverywhere also must have hospital la, this is gomen's promise to us. Rakyat diutamakan! Kakakaka~
Eh, gadis, the check-up vouchers is only valid in Taiping? What if the winners are not locals? How to utilize the vouchers?
DeleteYeah la this SP mulut celopar cos he always swallow dirty stuffs and out comes dirty words! Kakakakakaka...!!
DeleteYvonne,

Aduh! Lina, I was here guessing all the pictures that you took. You know what, Y&Y couldn't get all of the places right. We born here, we live here, we work here, and we took this place for granted.
ReplyDeleteHehehe...
DeleteThey are all shops only what. All in town area. ;)
I also take whatever is in my hoemtown for granted. Biasalah. xD
so teruk lah, the locals don't even know the places well.. hahaha!! i guess Lina really tested them~~ :D
Deletethat is why need to go to jalan jalan at Taiping don't just stay at home and ahem ahem ahem
DeleteTaiping Heritage Town is quiet, peaceful and relax. So people here also relax, slow and steady. Kekekeke! But, when Taiping people go KL, sure will scold @#$%^&* when seeing the traffic, my husband is one of them.
ReplyDeleteMy husband can't stand the traffic jam in KL, so he lose his patient easily.
ReplyDeleteKL got the worst traffic jam until it earned the TOP 10 spot in the world. All due to bad road planning which eventually produced bad reckless drivers.
DeleteI can't stand traffic jam in KL, I'll swear and curse if I got stuck in it. But funny thing, I'm a very patient driver in my old town here. Hihihi~
Deleteyes! my lovely place!
ReplyDeleteYou posted so many pictures of old Taiping town, suddenly I feel so nostalgic la.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't recall the places, kakaka!
DeleteHaving difficulty in identifying the old buildings.
yvonne everyday only traveling between home and office, sure won't go and admire all those places and buildings one~~
DeleteI don't even know what shops there are in Mid Valley despite working here. xD
Deleteyou orang taiping kah?
Deleteso this weekend bring your kids and bring them have a 1 day tour in Taiping..
Eh, gadis, you guys walked the whole town? I see you covered from MPT building to the place near your hotel. Fuyoh~ walkathon!
ReplyDeleteWe walked all the way to some kilang area, after the Hotel Taiping Perdana also. kekeke
Deleteyalah, of course must walk the whole town or else cannot consider herself to be in Taiping before mah~~
DeleteOMG, you walked to Tupai Industrial Area!! Walk further down you'll reach Pokok Assam. It's another Chinese new village, just like New Aulong village (whereby you covered during your marathon - the bridge with train station nearby).
DeleteSad to say,I have never ventured out in Taiping like what you did, hahahhah,in fact the only place that i stayed long is the Taiping Zoo..... may be next year Taiping Run,,,must go already.
ReplyDeleteI hope Taiping Heritage Run will be back next year (will definitely give Taiping Int Marathon a pass if it's handled by the same organiser) and I want to run in Taiping again! ^^
Deleteyeah, looks like a very laid back town.. tranquil and serene without the bustling traffic huh?? and i don't see a lot of cars there, even the roadside parking is so empty!!
ReplyDeleteHoliday lah... a lot of shops close also...
DeleteBut yeah, very laid back.
Completely different from Penang!
hahaha, snapped so many photos as if you have been to so many places until the locals also can't recognize the places.. so those are all taken in the town center??
ReplyDeleteYup, all in town centre. We just walk through the main roads, startin from our hotel to MPT building and back.
Deleteyeah, lots of well maintained and preserved pre-war and post-war buildings!! and i remember the buku sejarah told us Taiping was once an important port right?? and also a commercial hub for Perak..
ReplyDeleteTaiping was an important town for tin mining right?
Deletei like the clock tower and also that white building, looks so grand and majestic!! and oh, that traditional kedai runcit also!! did you get anything from there, should be able to find something that has already obsolete in KL..
ReplyDeleteI loved the old style kedai runcit. Wanted to take lots of photos of them but scared of the owners chasing me away. wakaka
DeleteOne thing I notice... NO TREES!!!! Come, come to Sibu. A lot nicer, I tell you...
ReplyDeleteSTP,
DeleteCannot drive over to Sibu otherwise I go already! Bwahaha
The other day i went there no time to jalan jalan coz it was going to rain
ReplyDeletebut i saw Kajang Hj Samuri satay there hahaha...looks like Taiping people dont have to come all the way to KL to have the satay lo
Deletehow is Legend Inn? Clean or not? Maybe one of these days wanna go and stay overnight in Taiping
DeleteClean. Efficient staff too. But room very very old looking esp bathroom.
DeleteLove the photos! : )
ReplyDeleteYeah very laid back, no stress. Does that mean people staying in Taiping have longer lives?
ReplyDeleteLet's check with Yan & Yvonne. ^^
DeleteBut as much as I love the laid-back ambience, I think I am still a PJ person. Haha!! But stay in Taiping for a week would be lovely : )
