The First Meal Of The Day

is the most important meal of the day.

You can't just wake up from a 6-8 hours fast (or however long you were asleep during the night) and function all through the day with an empty stomach!

Of course eating a nice full breakfast is quite hard considering most of us are rushing on weekdays but for us, we make sure we have something in the morning. A cup of Milo counts! For Son, it can be something as simple as a piece of bread but at least he has something to last through reccess.

Our favourites are:
Nasi lemak, of course! Though nowadays, it's only enjoyed during the weekends. Saturdays mostly.
Thosai. Because Roti Canai is much more unhealthy to enjoy while at the Mamak. hehehe
Can never go wrong with toast and half-boiled eggs.
or something to accompany a strong coffee ^^ Pasties and pies. Yummm!
or something along the traditional line, like laksam.
or something simple and quick to enjoy at home, like eggs with baked beans and cocktail sausages.

Cereals and muesli are great too.

What's your favourite breakfast?

I'll be sharing some recipes from the NutriSoy Breakfast Love Campaign cooking demo that I attended on Sunday in the next post or posts. The cooking demo was great fun!
My first (I think) recipe sharing post will be up soon. Stay tuned!

My breakfast I like the most is keow teow soup. Just a simple one will do. This I only can enjoy it during the weekends.

While I'm working, MILO+Oats or a cup of white coffee. As simple as that.

  11. yes yes yes!! i cannot agree with Mak Glam more!! i also think breakfast is the most important meal of a day, so i would go carefree, and eat whatever i want to eat.. and i can go crazy if i am at a buffet breakfast in hotel, i will go for rounds and rounds of food so that i cover at least 75% of what are served, kekeke!!

  12. nasi lemak: checked.. ah, i do have them for breakfast during weekends.. and for the past weekend, i had that for two consecutive days!! OMG, how crazy.. i love those simple nasi lemak biasa (don't really like to add on extra lauk), especially those nasi lemak bungkus, i can have two packets at one time..

    1. thosai: unchecked.. i don't know why but everytime i just "remember" so naturally to order two pieces of roti kosong only (i only like roti kosong and not other roti).. yeah, thosai sounds a better idea huh?? hopefully next time i will "remember" to order thosai instead of roti.. BTW, one piece of thosai = two pieces of roti, i mean the size??

    2. toasts and pastries: double checked.. i think my past life must be a "bakery bin" because i just love all kinds of cakes, breads, pastries, toasts, cookies, biscuits, bakeries etc.. but then they are also very fattening, die!!!

    3. laksam: unchecked.. aiyoh, call me jakun but i have not tried this thing before.. what it taste like?? the name suggested me it's a combination of laksa and asam?? but from the photo, it doesn't look at all spicy.. and the "noodle" in it looks just like chee cheong fun, interesting dei~~

    4. Dun wan to try laksam?

Traditional Malay breakfast, especially for people in the east coast : Terengganu, Kelantan and Pahang. Ooopsss... I shoudln't generalise the three states into the "east coast" name eh? :P

    5. sausages, baked beans, eggs: triple checked.. aiyoh, i cannot hide to tell you that i love all these sausages, ham, cold cuts, baked beans, bacon, eggs, toasts, pancakes, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, sauteed mushrooms and what-nots on my "big breakfast" plate.. i will never leave them untouched but probably will go for encore!! muahahaha, that's how i love them.. and so that's breakfast right?? i don't care, eat breakfast like a king you heard?? :p

    6. Laksam is like flat noodle. The gravy is fish based with santan. Quite rich and lemak. How spicy you want it is decided by putting the amount of chilli as you like.

  13. Yes! I truly agree that good breakfasts are important to start our day right! However, I often lazed and missed a proper breakfast meal after a cup of nestum or coffee. Bad habit of mine.
