Comic Book Ban
So you guys read about the ban on the publication of "Ultraman, The Ultra Power"?
No?
You can read it here.
The ban is on the Malay-edition comic book and what I gather by trawling the internet was this photo on what may have been the cause of the ban.
Dunno who to give credit to for this photo as I saw it in several blogs |
I just have one thought. Why is the word "Allah" being used for Ultraman King? That's being stupid. Even stupider is the low quality content of the writing, if the photo is really from the comic.
I'd ban the comic too just because it'll make my son language skill deteroriate. #justsaying
So many people posted in Facebook but you are the only one who provided the answer. I was clueless for the last 2-3 hours. I agree that word should not be there.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteI looked for it because it cannot just be because of Ultraman as a whole that's been banned. After all, all the media article mentioned about the publication of comic book not banning Ultraman outright.
Sure can joke around but at the same time, we gotta look for facts too.
Fr the article macam ultraman kena ban.
DeleteY the article tarak reveal this photo.
If just say bann like that sure furero.
If they put n explain like what you written sure ppl understand y it is banned
It said
Delete"The Home Ministry on Thursday issued a ban on the publication of Ultraman The Ultra Power, which was said to contain elements that threatened public order.
The Malay-edition comic book was published by Resign Publications and printed by Network Printers. "
Have to read thoroughly
Thank you so much for sharing....Lina.
DeleteSharing is caring.
DeleteCopy pasting also sharing. LOL
errr, i tried to read what's in that photo but i failed to comprehend.. first, of course of the low resolution that some words can be seen clearly.. second, likewise you said, low quality of writing.. so the reason given for the ban was because it contains elements that threatened public order.. like how???
ReplyDeleteOne word. ALLAH
Deleteooopsss!! THAT word..
Deletehmmm, better learn Japanese and read the original comics, then one will have appreciate the most organic message the author wanted to convey.. :D
ReplyDeleteI bet the publisher from Malaysia just hantam publish, translate directly from Google translate and didn't even bother ask the Japanese company's permission.
Deletespot on!! makes me wonder what's Ultraman gotta do with THAT at all..
DeleteOh I see! So this is what it's all about. That word again! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYup, that very sensitive word in Malaysia.
DeleteAiyohhh this banning thing is ridiculous... Those who were supposed to be responsible for the ban should be brought to justice, rectify the problem, not just simply ban it because of the one word...
ReplyDeleteThese silly direct translation really tarnished the whole Ultraman publication... Sigh
I blame publisher first n foremost.
DeleteAlways man up for your own mistakes n jgn ambik glemer/untung atas nama brand popular.
Thanks for sharing and make it clear, before it I was thinking they banned the whole thing...o.O!!!
ReplyDeleteA lot of people read it and assumed as much.
DeleteBut there was the mention that the ban was for a publication not for the fictional character.
I heard they used google translate.
ReplyDeleteGoogle translate viewed the word "elder" & change it to Allah?
DeleteShoddy publisher. Doesn't even appreciate the work of a nice manga character. I'd ban the comic myself, even without the word.
Wouldn't want my son to read such atrocious publication.
What? o.0
ReplyDeleteissokay...
DeleteThe Government just banning an absolutely atrocious Malay language publication (most probably without consent from the Japanese counterpart) on Ultraman.
No big loss.
