Son's Running Journey

Well, I've written about mine as a birthday post for myself on Sep 21 and I thought I write about Son's own journey. Not for his birthday though. Hehehe

He doesn't enter all the road races either his mother or father entered but only joined a few that caught his fancy. We don't believe in forcing him doing what he has scant interest in, anyway.

Anyways, apart from fun runs category, road races for those under-13 is hard to come by. Which is a pity because I do believe quite a number of kids below 12 can run up to 10K.
His first road race - a 3K in Larian Kitar Semula way back in December 2011.

It was a free run, we registered and paid with recycled items. Limited medals were given - only 50 for each category.
He also managed to snag another limited medal when he did the World Diabetes Run/Walkathon in October 2012. A 5K.
His first SCKLM and we registered him for a 900m Kids Dash since he was below 10 at that time.
First relay - at Pisang Relay in May 2013. He did two loops of 2.72km. ^^
Another relay at McDonald's Olympic Day Fun Run in Sep 2013. A 3K run. We managed to get 12th placing for family category run. ^^
Another Kids Dash at SCKLM 2013. This time, an upgrade of distance since he now is under the 10-12 age group.
Another Pisang Relay in April 2014.
Energizer Night Race with his Daddy, running a 5K.

I hope he'll get to run more once he's 13 as there are plenty of road races for kids 13 and above to join. ^^

Next year maybe Mommy and Daddy will run together with him in the 5K at SCKLM 2015. No medals, but we never really trained him to aim for medals to enjoy his runs.

  1. Wonderful post! It runs in this family of Mighty Runners! I hope all families will share this type of healthy passion to exercise like Datin Mak Glamarlina's model family. Thumbs Up!

  8. Run Raimie Run... I always love watching young kids running during an event... So care free, larger than life... Oh, there was 5.5km running category for the school kids too during Larian Diraja Oren Sport Day last 16 September... Kak Lina sekeluarga boleh menjadi role model sebagai keluarga yang aktif bersukan ni :-D
