A Season Of Sharing, At Tony Roma's

Did you guys notice the current Tony Roma's promotion; Tony's Sharing Platters, that is on-going from January 1 to February 28, 2017?

Our family had actually tried one of the sharing platter that is offered during the New-Year weekend, though our outing kinda ended in a sour note. Not that the food was at fault though, just the service needed a lot of bucking up.

Anyhoo... here we are again, back to Tony Roma's. Albeit at a different branch.

As I said, I don't have much problem with the food. Tony Roma's lamb ribs is still my favourite ribs that I enjoyed devouring. Their beef ribs are good too.

But this time around, we had a chance to attend a food review session at their Sunway Pyramid outlet and try out all three of their Tony's Sharing Platter.

3 amazing sharing platters are available and they are:
The Lamb Lover’s Platter consists of Lamb Ribs Roma Rack, Lamb Cevapi, ½ BBQ Chicken, three cups of Soup of the Day and three sides of your choice at only RM139*. All prices quoted in Ringgit Malaysia, inclusive of 6% GST and applicable to 10% service charge.
The Lobster & Friends Platter offers an amazing Lobster, Grilled Salmon, Shrimp Scampi Pasta, three cups of Soup of the Day and three sides of your choice for RM179*.

*All prices quoted in Ringgit Malaysia, inclusive of 6% GST and applicable to 10% service charge.
The Tony’s Beef Ribs Platter consists of World Famous Bountiful Beef Ribs, ½ BBQ Chicken, 10oz NY Strip Steak, three cups of Soup of the Day and three sides of your choice for RM169*. *All prices quoted in Ringgit Malaysia, inclusive of 6% GST and applicable to 10% service charge.

Quite a good deal, I might add. Just make sure the staff remember to serve you your soup. (They forgotten about it when we were at IOI Mall. heh heh. Sorry, can't resist mentioning it)
We started our dinner with one of the refreshing mocktails offered at RM15.90*. I had Cranberry Fizz which is a fusion of cranberry, apple and mango juices with a tinge of lime soda and Hubby chose the Miami Breeze, a mixture of pineapple juice, ginger ale, grenadine, cherry and lime soda.

My Cranberry Fizz was so good, I ordered them TWICE! Hur hur
We had the choice of potato or chicken soup to start our dinner. We chose both and shared them between the two of us. I must say, I LOOOOVE the creamy potato soup more.

Then it was time for the STARS of the night to appear.

Starting with the Ton'y Beef Ribs Platter.
10oz NY Strip Steak and 1/2 BBQ Chicken.

The BBQ Chicken spent 24-hours in brine before being grilled and served to customers. The BBQ shelf-life is only 3-hours to maintain its freshness.

I was skeptical about the chicken at first (as I am not much of a poultry fan) but after being coaxed by Hubby to try it, I was surprised at how flavourful, moist and tender the chicken was.

It was reminiscent of the turkey we had at Hilton KL for Christmas last month! That's how good it was.  (Anyway, if you get hard and dry chicken at Tony Roma's, I guess somebody isn't doing their QC properly lah... Heh)
Of course the Beef Ribs Platter comes with ribs, and three sides of our choice.

Then it was time for the Lamb Lover's Platter which was the same platter we ordered earlier this month at IOI Mall, Putrajaya.
Lamb Cevapi with our choice our side dishhes.
And of course, our favourite: Lamb Ribs Roma Rack and 1/2 BBQ Chicken.

Man, we certainly were eating a helluva chicken that night. Hahaha

Absolutely no complaints about the lamb ribs, as always.

Then time for a luxurious close - we tried the Lobster & Friends Platter.
A whole, Sabah mari lobster for us with grilled salmon and side dishes.
I was so stoked about eating the lobster, I totally forgot to take photos of the rest of the platter; which was the Shrimp Scampi Pasta.

Sorry!
We were joined by Encik Bashir; Tony Roma's Senior Kitchen Manager who shared plenty of interesting facts about Tony Roma's with us.
Thank you Encik Bashir for the sharing session and it was a privilege to be able to meet you. As we said earlier, we'll return to Sunway Pyramid outlet for great food and service.

I'll bring my whole family next time as "GREAT FOOD IS BEST TO BE SHARED!"

Someone mentioned I should give the IOI Mall outlet a second chance. I'm a bit wary, but should I?

  3. All your food and rib photos are so delicious. I realised that the name Tony Romas itself is like a mantra. Just a mention and my mood gets alive right away. No other restaurant has this booster. LOL
